Love it!! Great machine and received good advice from espresso canada.
I bought this machine and the experience was amazing. Luciano is very knowledgeable and helpful. I'd recommend espresso canada to anyone.
This is my second Royal One Touch Cappucino machine, and my third in the Royal series. And I stick with Saeco machines not without a cause. Just moving to Canada, I had to leave my beloved machine in Europe, as it is not fit to switch from 220V to 110V. I took this event to dive into research, which machine to choose as successor. I therefore made a major test drive, going for Jura machines, Gaggia, DeLonghi, Rancilio and all the other big names, including commercial ones and even Nespresso ones. I am not a fan of the Nespresso system, but I have to admit that their latest model, the VertuoPlus does brew an excellent espresso that is not easy to match. But I love to switch between different roasts of coffees of different varieties, and putting my future coffee life into the hands of an anonymous Nespresso barista was not an option to seriously consider. After more than 100 espresso brewed by different machines, fully automatic and semi-automatic, I knew I had to make a choice. Heavily relying on Espresso (15 cups a day may be the average) , I also love the Cappucino or Caffè latte, and as busy days evolve, I realise not to have the time to contemplate too much when preparing my shot. So the semi-automatic dropped off. Looking at the volume I would prepare just for myself during the day, the smaller, consumer machines with less than 1 liter water reservoir - no choice. On a blind degustation of espresso brewed by some of the larger machines - the winner was Schaerer - a Swiss specialist for gastronomic machines. Sad that the price tag was way above 10’000$. The second winner was the Saeco Royal OTC. This one still expensive, but much more reasonable than the Schaerer. What do I love on this machine: The espresso is fantastic. If you fine-tune brewing time, brewing temperature, grinding-grade and amount of coffee-powder per cup, the result is as enjoyable as on my favourite coffee-bar off the Piazza San Marco in Venice. Literally. Given you use premium grade italian espresso beans, of course. And the machine, of course, handles all of the other varieties as well: espresso doppio, American coffee, Latte Macchiato, Cappucino. All with very little interaction. The capuccinatore that comes with this machine is one of the most reliable I have used in the past twenty-five years, easy to clean and producing thick, rich milk foam every day. Not as thick and rich as the Schaerer, though, but still very reasonable. I have to admit that one of my biggest disappointments had been some smaller saeco one touch models like the lirica and Xelsis models, where the milk foam was perfect on day one, but un-enjoyable after a couple of months in use. Not so with this model, a big plus! Also, the brewing group is easy to access and clean. And - a big plus to the predecessor of the Royal OTC: the coffee grounds container again stays dry, without excess water rinse getting into coffee grounds, so cleaning the bin is an easy shake without the need to water-rinse sticky coffee pomace out. Also worthwile to mention is the aroma-seal of the coffee bean container, which by magnet-switch prevents the machine to work if not properly closed: Keeping flavour to its most extent. What don’t I love on this machine? The plastics and its quality. Especially of the drip tray. The cup holder surface is stainless steel, which is nice. But the drip tray in my experience just wears off, especially on the inside. After a year or so, the cold coffee remnants will subsequently destroy the inner surface of the plastic coating, which will render it less easy to clean. This may be preventable with meticulous every-day-cleaning of the drip-tray, but year-long user experience just tells that the drip-tray is one of the most forgotten parts in your daily cleaning cycle. That may be a minor cosmetic issue (genuine to all the machines using plastic drip-trays), and the only one I have to report. Besides that: pure happiness in every-day usage. A clear 5-star-reward.
Works great, as advertised. Excellent service.
It was a bit challenging to use the machine at first. Instructions are not very easy to follow for the initial set up. However, the machine makes the best coffee/expresso/latte I’ve ever had! 5 stars for sure. I highly recommend this machine.
