Yes, it’s true: 2021 is around the corner, and what a year 2020 has been. It seems like we’re all thinking the same thing: the new year can’t come soon enough. 2020 has presented everyone with more challenges than we would have thought. But with adversity comes an opportunity to reflect on what we can do to improve, to grow, and to help each other. And while you may have 100 things you want to cross off your bucket list for 2021, we’re here to talk about what really matters to kick off each and every day on the right foot: that’s espresso, of course.
Here are Espresso Canada’s 5 reasons how espresso machines can fit into your 2021 new year’s resolutions.
Despite 2021 being a new year, we can anticipate that many of the physical distancing requirements and restrictions will spill over from this past year. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get your coffee kick each day, it just means that you may have to re-think how you get it.
Coffee is indeed that drink that sets the rhythm to our day. We may start our morning with a basic drip coffee, follow up mid-morning with a delicious cappuccino, and we supercharge our energy in the late afternoon with something with a little kick, like an Americano.
So how do you get your daily coffee or espresso by minimizing contact with others and without having to leave your home? A fully automatic espresso machine, of course! With a touch of a button, an espresso machine allows you to satisify your entire household’s coffee cravings – espresso, cappuccino, latte, Americano, a ‘regular’ coffee, steamed milk for hot chocolate, and more!
And that applies to the workplace, too, especially if you are still required to go into the ofifce! If you own or manage a business or company and want to do your part to encourage your employees to physically distance and minimize contact with others, consider buying a superautomatic espresso machine to create a work coffee programme!
Having a good coffee system at work is one of the easiest ways to boost employee satisfaction and morale, especially during COVID. Having a good coffee system in place ensures employees don't have to leave the office. This shows them you care about their safety.
Employees will love having a coffee maker that can make any of their coffee choice easily with the push of a button. No matter what your team likes to drink in the break room, with Saeco fully automatic espresso machines your team will enjoy:
Plus, there are a number of health benefits to espresso, like improving memory and concentration, digestion and weight loss, and your mood. It’s a win-win for everyone! Learn more about why having an espresso machine will help you achieve your 2021 new year’s resolutions and stay safe during these unprecedented times.
Believe it or not, fully automatic espresso machines pay for themselves! Many people think that investing in a machine is really cost prohibitive but if you sit down and do the math, you will be pleasantly surprised. Making a coffee with a superautomatic espresso machine at home costs about 12 cents per cup.
While part of allure of having an espresso may be going to the local coffee shop, which really isn’t practical or possible right now, making your specialty coffee drinks at home will help you save money. There really isn't any coffee you can't make at home with the right equipment.
Here is an infographic of how much it costs in the long run to have a superautomatic espresso machine vs. a capsule system like a Keurig or Nespresso vs. going to the coffee shop daily.
A silver lining of having coffee at home is that you to hone your barista skills and explore new coffee recipes. Check out these coffee trends that have emerged during COVID.
Recycling, planting trees, and engaging in other activities that demonstrate environmental stewardship are not the only ways you can help save our planet. I bet you have not stopped to consider that your coffee machine may be a huge culprit in your effort to becoming environmentally conscious.
If you don’t have an espresso machine but drink espresso at home on the regular, our bet is that you use a Keurig or Nespresso machine. Unfortunately, both types of machines are going to be a barrier to your new year’s resolution of becoming more environmentally friendly.
The K-cup is an ubiquitous single-serve plastic coffee pod that “consist(s) of a combination of plastic, aluminum, organic material (coffee grounds) and a paper filter. While all said items may be easily recycled separately, the K-Cup pod as a whole cannot be recycled. The components need to be separated and sorted into the correct categories for recycling or composting.” (Cited by: Jennifer Kalish from Waste and Recycling News).
Nespresso with aluminum capsules is all the rage. Regrettably, the single serve aluminum pod creates a lot of waste too. Unfortunately, most of the aluminum pods wind up in landfills and are not recycled. When you consider the volume of pods sold each year (billions are sold year), the waste generated is alarming.
On the other hand, with an espresso machine that uses real coffee beans – whether it's manual, superautomatic or stovetop – the only waste you are left with is organic matter or coffee grounds. And even coffee grounds can be recycled. In fact, coffee grounds can be used in many ways, some of which, you may have never considered like a body scrub, fertilizer for your garden, or even crafts.

Staying home more in 2020 has meant that many of us have made and tried new drinks and foods that we never had the time or patience to try before. So let’s put those new skills to use in 2021! (Fingers crossed that we’ll be allowed to host more people at home in 2021 to show off what we’ve learned.) So here are some ideas on how you can use your superautomatic espresso machine to meet your new year’s resolution of becoming a stellar host:
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a common theme in communities across Canada: small and local business are the cornerstone of our society, and they need your help now more than ever.
Espresso Canada is a family-run business based out of Windsor, Ontario. Its founder, Luciano, has been in the espresso business since 1987 and serves as a liaison between the Philips Saeco European headquarters and its North America branches. He also acts as a trainer for other Philips service centres.
Since we started selling espresso machines in 1987, we have been committed to a lifetime of learning about espresso and we want to share this knowledge with espresso enthusiasts in Canada. We sell everything from espresso machines, to cups and accessories, to machine maintenance products, and freshly roasted small batch coffee beans. Plus, we have a flexible coffee subscription programme for those that enjoy the convenience of not having to shop online regularly and don’t want to get tied down to a long commitment. The beauty of our small business is that we support other local businesses – like our small batch coffee, which is roasted locally in Windsor.
So for 2021, make it a new year’s resolution to ditch the big box stores. They don’t care about the customer experience and satisfaction nearly as much as us small businesses do.
At Espresso Canada, we’re committed to high quality products and customer service: prompt and responsive troubleshooting, fast shipping, elegant touches on your orders, in-house warranty and repair, and more.
We’re only an email or phone call away. Don’t believe us? Check out what our loyal customers have to say.
